August Days

August Days

August is a quiet time in the vineyard. The major work done all year to date, preparing and tending to the vineyard, is mostly done. The weeds are mostly now left to grow in the aisle to compete with the vines; to slow down the vine’s vegetative growth and send them into putting sugar into the grapes. So early August is a time to rest before the next major work load comes along: the harvest and crush.
