I harvested our Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát in Hungarian) over the weekend. It was going to rain this week so there was no point in letting the grapes hang longer.
The grapes came in at 22 Brix. Which is pretty much ideal for this grape.
This is how the free run juice looked:

2013 Pinot Gris grape juice freshly pressed.
I am excited about this harvest. The Pinot Gris harvested this year were planted 5 years ago, so they are just now at the age to start giving a very good wine. They will of course take another 10 years to reach full maturity, at which point they should give an excellent wine. Stay tuned: more after the second racking.
The juice alone looks amazing!
