I planted some lettuce last autumn. Covered it with fleece, and basically ignored it. Below are photos of the fleece pull back in March. Also seen is a clump of parsley that did well under the fleece (except those parts not so much under the fleece which are yellow … which shows that fleece helps plants over winter).
