Our Italian Riesling (known as Olaszrizling in Hungarian, and as Welschriesling in German, which means “foreign Riesling”) is an ancient variety with a long history in Hungary. The actual origins of this variety, and when Italian Riesling first was grown in Hungary, are obscure. Flavor and aroma elements commonly associated with Italian Riesling: apple, pear, peach, apricot, flint, floral, woodruff or bitter almonds.

2014 Vintage Tasting Notes
2104 vintage no longer available.
November 2014 Racking: Already fallen clear. Aromas and flavors of green apple and leeks. Weak acidity (due to very late harvest).
Note: There were heavy and constant rains in the summer of 2014. A lot of vines were affected with powdery mildew weakening them and their ability to ripen fruit. We delayed picking and had a late harvest, which resulted in very little production.
2013 Vintage Tasting Notes
2103 vintage no longer available.
December 2013: Christmas racking. Aroma of pear, green apple and straw. Moderate acidity. Set aside for bulk aging. Second tasting notes, and public tasting available spring 2014.
2012 Vintage Tasting Notes
2102 vintage no longer available.
April 2012: Floral and citrus bouquet. Somewhat weak in the mouth. Moderate acidity. A good table wine, but not our best year.
Note: There was a significant drought in the summer of 2012. We culled a lot of our grapes to lessen long term damage to our vines. Production was limited, and none was made publicly available.
2011 Vintage Tasting Notes
No longer available.
July 2012: Boutique of green apples and bitter almonds. Light corn flower yellow in color. Moderate acidity. See this page for more details.
