I think may of us have been there with zucchini. Knowing they can grow fast, we routinely check on their growth, to pick at an ideal size.
But sometimes, Zucchini plants can get dense, and one can miss one. When I finally found this monster in August, it was over 60 cm (24 in) long and weighed in at 5.4 kg (12 lbs).
Yes, we ate it. But it was used mostly in soups and veggie patties, and tasted fine there.
The first time my dad planted zucchini, he had NO idea how much a vine produced, and he way over planted. One in the middle of the patch got missed, it weighed over 8 lbs when found.
On the plus side, we tried 3 different recipes for zucchini bread, several for zucchini jam, and discovered that when shredded, it freezes well so we had zucchini bread all winter.
