Since I am upping my garlic plant number this year I decided to make a multipronged dibber to make my hole spacing and creation easier.
I decided to go with an equilateral spacing of my garlic, so I made a three pronged dibber. The plants end up in a hexagonal pattern. Which is the most efficient use of space. It worked very well, and planting 400 garlic only took a few hours.
I was talking with you on that Youtube channel about FPJ. I plant about 2 to 300 cloves of hardneck garlic each fall. I use a single dibber but have been meaning to make a grid style dibber I saw Eliot Coleman use on his farm videos. This design is perfect! I’m going to make one. The staggered V shape is perfect since I transplant in a staggered pattern for a lot of my annual crops. Thanks for the idea. That will probably cut my planting time in half probably.

The only “problem” is I can’t decide which was more fun — making the dibber or planting the garlic with the dibber. Both were fun!
